Course Syllabus

Combination 7th and 8th grade Visual Arts Syllabus

Students in this class will be introduced to both the Elements and Principles of Design in the beginning of the course.  They will study the American Abstract Expressionistmovement of the 1950s and 60s before creating their own Abstract Line Design, the OP Art movement  of the 1960s before creating their own OP Art design and the artistic conventions of Italian Renaissance before they learn how to create a convincing illusion of depth using both 1 and 2 point Linear Perspective. They will practice building affective skills--like focus, patience and persistence--using a variety of mediums--like pencil, charcoal, watercolor, opaque paint, collage, colored pencil, wire, ceramics, fibers, etc....
